Lots of Imagination...

Somewhere under all that snow will be my garden. It's not much room, but for being a fairly urban neighborhood (my grocery store, library, post office and liquor store are all within a 5 minute walk, and I can take the bus to work without having to transfer 20 times) it will do. I'm not sure if I'm ready for chickens yet. Actually I think I would like a turkey before I get chickens. A turkey might make it over the fence, however.

What type of gardening will you do? I've done row gardens, and this year I want a raised garden. Alas, I think there's a city ordinance here against raising chickens. There's also one against chain link fences that are visible from the street. I moved into the wrong part of town.

you can just clip the turkey's wings - it dosn't hurt them, just trim back the feathers and make down pillows out of them!

Raised beds will probably do best in my yard, especially with the sandy soil out here.
Wasn't there a "This American Life" episode about a family fighting their city ordinance against raising chickens and winning? I think they ruled it was illegal to have such an ordinance. It's a big deal: you should be able to raise your own food no matter where you live. It's not like you're going to do it on a large scale. Silly city ordinances...
I guess if I'm having a hard time imagining clipping a turkey's wings harvest time is going to be a real struggle...
