And the peaches are SO good right now. I bought three boxes at the FM Saturday.Micahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00941565976914171082noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7151395492295637376.post-2357925395523032482008-08-26T05:42:00.000-07:002008-08-26T05:42:00.000-07:00Oh yeah, now's the time for pears and apples! Peaches, apricots, plums, all those things grow in Salt Lake County, and I tell you, when Noah was a baby, I would just peel a peach, mash it with a fork, and he would slop it down like there was no tomorrow. I canned plums, peaches, pears, and apples that summer, and then I would get out a jar and puree it with a stick blender before giving it to him. He loved them all. And plums have lots of iron!sarah k.https://www.blogger.com/profile/18443012372866539495noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7151395492295637376.post-9358595198622703022008-08-24T14:45:00.000-07:002008-08-24T14:45:00.000-07:00I agree 100% with the comment above. Try to smash up a banana, I think that Wy ate that before anything else and he still loves them.BAWChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17111650284358819365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7151395492295637376.post-76106772789813473752008-08-24T13:50:00.000-07:002008-08-24T13:50:00.000-07:00I think as long as YOU are getting plenty of iron,...I think as long as YOU are getting plenty of iron, he'll get it from the milk just fine. Humans survived for millenia without rice cereal. I think babies have a pretty good built in system for getting all that they need.

You could try some of the traditional baby foods: mashed, soggy mung beans or lentils, white rice cooked for a long time in tons of water, with milk added (congee?), oatmeal ground into a flour and then cooked.

I think babies need practice at swallowing mushy things, and experimentation with slight texture, but small ones get their nutritional needs met with milk.sarah k.https://www.blogger.com/profile/18443012372866539495noreply@blogger.com
